IFA LET’S TALK AND WALK EVENTS ANNOUNCED AS PART OF GREEN RIBBON CAMPAIGN ON MENTAL HEALTH
Let’s start a conversation on mental health, that’s the idea behind the Green Ribbon campaign, a month long campaign in May to create a recognisable symbol, which is hoped will kick start a national conversation about mental health. See Change, a national programme to reduce stigma and challenge discrimination associated with mental health and its 70 plus partners are organising a series of national events as part of the Green Ribbon campaign.
Introduction

The committee was established to recognise the role women have on the farm and to increase their involvement with the IFA.

The role of the representatives on the committee includes speaking on behalf of their county at IFA Farm Family & Social Affairs meetings, as well as striving to assist IFA members all around the country either on a one to one basis or by notifying them at county executives on key current issues.  Examples of this are:

  • Pensions – entitlements for women working on farms and updates on the changes after Budget 2012
  • Nursing Home scheme – providing information on how to apply and what is involved.
  • Farm Safety – after 2010, one of the worst years for farm accidents & fatalities, IFA’s nationwide Farm Safety awareness campaign was launched by President Mary McAleese.  The message of Farm Safety continues to be spread by the committee.
  • Stress - to be aware of what it is, what the signs can be and what resources are available in the locality that can provide assistance.
