IFA has called on TD’s to reject out of hand a private member bill on land access being brought forward by a Labour Party member.

COMMONAGE PLAN REJECTED - COVENEY MUST TAKE NOTE - IFA
IFA Rural Development Chairman, Flor McCarthy has said that it is clear from discussions with commonage farmers since the publication of stocking levels last week, that there is a clear rejection of the Department of Agriculture plan.

MINISTER COVENEY MUST INTERVENE OVER IMPASSE ON COMMONAGE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT
IFA Deputy President Eddie Downey has called on the Minister of Agriculture Simon Coveney to immediately intervene with his Department in the discussions about a collective agreement for each commonage, in order to establish minimum and maximum stocking levels for the total area of the commonage.

IFA CALL FOR CLOSING DATE EXTENSION FOR DISADVANTAGED AREA STOCKING DEROGATION
IFA Hill Committee Chairman, Tom Fadian has called for an extension of the closing date for farmers who are applying for a derogation of the stocking rate criteria in order to qualify for the 2012 scheme. The closing date which is next Friday 24th August must be extended to 3rd September by Minister Coveney.
