CAP MUST DELIVER BETTER FUTURE FOR FARM FAMILIES - IFA
In its submission on behalf of its 87,000 farmer members to the EU Commissioner for Agriculture Dacian Ciolos as part of the consultation process ahead of the review of the CAP in 2013, IFA has highlighted the importance of the multi-functional role of the Common Agriculture Policy for the EU’s 500m citizens, the environment, food producers and society generally.

HILL FARMERS MUST HAVE OPTION OF NPWS FARM PLAN SCHEME
New IFA Hill Farming Committee Chairman Tom Fadian said that farmers who have been destocked through the Commonage Framework Plans must have the option of putting their designated land into the Natural Parks and Wildlife Farm Plan Scheme with the remainder of the farm being allowed into the new Agri-Environment Options Scheme.

ACHILL ISLAND SHEEP FARMER ELECTED AS CHAIRMAN OF IFA HILL FARMING COMMITTEE
Tom Fadian of Achill Island, Co Mayo has been elected as the new Chairman of the IFA Hill Farming Committee. Mr Fadian succeeds Neilie O’Leary of Bantry who has completed 4 years as Chairman of the Committee.
