IFA GET COMMITMENT ON NEW CHARTER OF RIGHTS
ON DIRECT PAYMENTS
IFA Deputy President Eddie Downey said he has received a commitment from the Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney that a new Charter of Rights on Direct Payments will be negotiated before the end of this year.
Eddie Downey said the new Charter must improve the rights of farmers across a number of critical issues including payments being made on time, reduced inspection levels, greater tolerances and reduced penalties, and advanced notice of inspection. He said no notice inspections are unacceptable.
