MINISTER MUST STAND HIS GROUND TO DELIVER A CAP DEAL THAT WORKS FOR PRODUCTIVE AGRICULTURE - BRYAN
IFA President John Bryan has warned the Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney that Irish farmers are expecting him to stand his ground and face down Commissioner Ciolos in order to deliver a deal on CAP Reform which supports active productive farmers.

CO-OPS MUST CONSOLIDATE APRIL HARDSHIP PAYMENT INTO A FURTHER INCREASED MAY BASE PRICE – KIERSEY
Commenting on the announcement by Lakeland co-op that they will make a 1.72c/l hardship bonus payment on the April milk price, which follows the decision by Glanbia that they will make a hardship payment of 1c/l, IFA National Dairy Committee Chairman Kevin Kiersey welcomed the effort by co-ops to assist farmers in these very difficult times.

National Dairy Committee Chairman

Kevin Kiersey farms in partnership with his brother John in Kilmacthomas, Co Waterford.  Kevin and John run a dairy farm supplying Glanbia with a mixed enterprise involving beef and forestry.  Kevin is married to Maria and they have three children, Miriam, Patrick and James.

Representing Waterford on the IFA National Dairy Committee for the past four years, Kevin has been Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the past two years.

From 1997 to 2000 Kevin was Chairman of the Waterford Agricultural Show.
