DAIRYGOLD AND GLANBIA GRAIN CUSTOMERS SHOULD EXAMINE THEIR OPTIONS

IFA National Grain Committee, Noel Delany, said that growers supplying Dairygold and Glanbia should examine their options following on from their on-account price announcements over the last week, as these prices are up €20/t below what can be achieved on deals or from other grain buyers.

IFA National Grain Committee Chairman, Noel Delany, said that up to €155/t (at 20% moisture, excl. vat) is achievable on deals for green barley with €10 over for wheat.

€140/T ACHIEVABLE FOR GREEN BARLEY - DELANY

IFA National Grain Committee Chairman Noel Delany said that a minimum green barley harvest price of €140/t is achievable with €10 to €15/t over for wheat. Mr Delany said, “Dried barley prices are ranging from €165 to €170/t, with wheat trading from €178 to €185/t for harvest collection. Buyers will attempt to talk down prices in the coming days as harvest pressure builds. However with good weather, low moistures and easy harvesting conditions farmers should not be in a rush to sell. Markets have taken a breather over the last few days as funds moved to take profits and assess the full impact of crop losses across the Black Sea Region.”
