AGENDA AGRICULTURE COUNCIL – 27/28 JUNEBrussels Daily
Agriculture and Fisheries Council Agenda highlights below.
The Council will have an exchange of views on the market situation and the market support measures currently in place. The discussion will focus on the assessment of these measures and the opportunity of further actions at EU level, particularly in light of the existing financial constraints.
Ministers will then take note of a state of play report on the proposed regulation on organic production and labelling of organic products.
The Commission will present to the Council its communication on a consultation on fishing opportunities for 2017. The communication sets out the criteria to establish Total Allowable Catches (TACs).
Ministers should also reach a general approach on a proposed regulation on the sustainable management of external fishing fleets. The latter aims to modernise the management of authorisations granted to EU vessels to fish outside EU waters, and of authorisations granted to third country fishing vessels to operate in EU waters.
The Council is expected to adopt conclusions on:
- food waste and food losses
- the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Action Plan and of the EU Timber Regulation
