Agenda highlights

Agriculture

The Council will try to agree a general approach on a proposal on organic farming. The proposal reviews the existing legislation on organic production and labelling of organic products. It aims to remove obstacles to the development of organic production in the EU, guarantee fair competition for farmers and operators and improve consumer confidence in organic products.

Fisheries

Ministers will hold an exchange of views on the Commission’s communication on fishing opportunities for 2016. The communication outlines the state of stocks, gives a limited overview of the economic performance of the EU fleet, and stresses the commitment to long-term management plans, as well as management in accordance with scientific advice.
