July 2017: Agri-food exports
The monthly value of EU agri-food exports was stable at EUR 11.3 billion in July 2017. This is EUR 708 million (+7%) higher than in July 2016 and close to July 2015 levels but maintains the high export performance of EU agri-food exports in 2017, compared to the last three years.
The highest increases in monthly export values (July 2017 compared to July 2016, EUR million) were recorded again for the USA (+194), and Russia (+104). Monthly exports fell significantly again to Saudi Arabia (-156), Libya (-50) and United Arab Emirates (-40).
By sector, export growth (EUR million) was achieved mainly in spirits and liqueurs (+169) and again in milk powders (+107) and infant food (+100). Wheat exports (EUR million) dropped for the 5th month in a row (-188), as did exports of other cereals (-104), while pork exports fell only slightly (-31).
EU agri-food imports (EUR million), compared to same month a year before, rose in July 2017 by +747 (+9%) due to increase from Indonesia (+152), Ukraine (+137), USA (+86) and India (+75). Imports went down from Ghana (-69) and Argentina (-65) By sector, major increases were seen in palm oil (+174) and oilseeds (+140) and imports of cocoa beans showed again the biggest fall (-168) in value terms.
