Brexit
The Council, in an EU27 format, will discuss the state of play of the Brexit negotiations. The Commission’s Chief Negotiator, Michel Barnier, is expected to inform ministers on the progress made so far during the talks.
The debate will serve as preparation for the meeting of the EU27 heads of state or government at the European Council (Art.50) to take place the same week on 15 December 2017.
At this summit, leaders will reassess the state of play to determine whether sufficient progress has been achieved on citizens’ rights, Ireland and financial obligations.
