Over €11 million to projects enhancing the EU’s cooperation with India, China, Brazil and the Latin America and Caribbean region
The European Commission has approved four new projects with a combined budget of €11.23 million to enhance the EU’s cooperation with India, China and Brazil as well as the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region on matters of common interest. The projects have a number of different focusses, for example on international cooperation, political dialogue, ICT policy cooperation and people-to-people contact at the local level. These projects were adopted under the Partnership Instrument, which is managed by the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments, and brings the overall contribution in support of the EU’s strategic interests to € 102.7 million this year. €112 million to support socio-economic reforms and protection of vulnerable groups in EU’s Southern Neighbourhood
The EU has adopted a €112 million package to support socio-economic reforms and protection of vulnerable groups in Tunisia, Syria and Israel. The package, funded under the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI), brings the total EU support to its southern neighbourhood this year up to €1.6 billion. “Stabilising our neighbourhood is a top priority for the EU. This new funding will support key reforms and help improve the livelihoods and resilience of local populations, bringing more stability to this volatile region“, said Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.
