FOREIGN AFFAIRS COUNCIL WILL REVIEW TTIP ON 13 MAYBrussels Daily

The Council will discuss the follow-up to the World Trade Organization ministerial conference held in Nairobi in December 2015. It will assess both remaining issues under the Doha Development Agenda and new issues to be taken up by the WTO.
Ministers will review negotiations with the United States on a transatlantic trade and investment partnership (TTIP). They will also discuss a draft EU-Canada comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA), with a view to signing the agreement at a summit in October.
The Council will discuss the crisis in the steel industry. Over lunch, ministers will consider how to make progress in negotiations with the European Parliament on “conflict minerals”. A proposal sets out to minimise the risk of financing armed groups through the sale of minerals and metals in areas affected by conflict.
