In Glas? Get a Grant of Up to €25,000 Towards the Conservation of Traditional Farm Buildings

A new scheme to grant-aid the conservation of traditional farm buildings on GLAS farms has been announced.

The grant aid will be available to restore and conserve traditional farm buildings and other structures of significant cultural and heritage value. Grants will cover up  to 75% of the cost, with maximum grants of €25,000 and minimum grants of €4,000 available.

Grants will be made available to GLAS participants to carry out approved conservation works to traditional farm buildings, including roofs, outside surface of walls, windows and doors. Grants will also be available for other related structures such as historic yard surfaces and landscape features around the farmyard such as walls, gate pillars and gates.

To be eligible for the scheme, buildings and other related structure must have architectural or vernacular heritage character and make a contribution to their setting.

The scheme will be administered by the Heritage Council on behalf of the Department of Agriculture.

Completed application forms must be returned to the Heritage Council before 5pm on Friday 6th May 2016. Further applications will be invited at regular intervals throughout the Programming period to end December 2020.
