IFA Hill Farming Chairman Welcomes Minister O’cuiv’s Move on Destocking Payment

IFA Hill Farming Chairman Tom Fadian has welcomed the decision by the Minister for the Environment Eamon O’Cuiv that farmers in certain commonage areas of Galway and Mayo who were destocked and whose REPS3 contracts are over, will be paid the top-up and monthly payments.

Mr Fadian said IFA had raised this matter with Minister O’Cuiv a month ago. “Farmers in these areas had suffered restrictions as a result of a high level of destocking and a longer housing period, which had a severe impact on their incomes.”

Tom Fadian said it was important that the payments from the Department of the Environment were made right up to the date when farmers are accepted into the AEOS Scheme.
