IFA President Welcomes Strong Defence by Agriculture Minister at Farm Council

IFA President John Bryan has welcomed the strong defence by Minister for Agriculture, Marine and Food Simon Coveney of Irish farmers’ interests, both in the reform of the CAP and in highlighting the serious concerns of Irish agriculture if the EU Commission progresses with a Mercosur deal as currently proposed.

At a meeting with the Minister in Brussels ahead of the Farm Council, John Bryan discussed the key issues of concern to Irish farmers, including CAP reform, Mercosur and a softer landing for milk quotas in the run up to 2015. He said the Minister’s strong stance on these issues was critically important to the wellbeing of Irish farmers and the expansion of the agri sector
