EU COMMISSION FULLY AWARE OF IRISH FARMER CONCERNS ON 2014 REFERENCE YEARUncategorized
Speaking following intensive discussions with senior EU Commission officials in Brussels on the leaked proposals on CAP post-2013, IFA President John Bryan said he was satisfied that the Commission were fully aware of the serious implications for Irish farmers if their concerns relating to the 2014 reference year are not addressed.
He said IFA’s discussions with the Commission were very constructive and he believed that farmer concerns on the reference year would be addressed in the final document due out on October 12th.
Mr Bryan said the leaked proposals would result in major disruption to the land market, weakening the position of active farmers who lease land.<span> It would be totally unacceptable if active farmers were not in a position to maintain their land base and sustain their level of production. </span>
