Support Growing for Flexibility in Cap Reform – IFA

IFA President John Bryan has said there was growing support among farm organisations across Europe for IFA’s position that there must be flexibility on the flat-rate proposal contained in the CAP reform.

John Bryan discussed the issue when he met representatives from a number of farm organisations at a conference in Warsaw. “The future CAP must minimise disruption for farmers and maximise production at national level.”

The IFA President said the ‘greening’ proposal has also been identified as problematic. “Both the level of 30% and the conditions set down are seen as far too rigid. At a time when food security is emerging as a global issue, it would be counterproductive to limit the ability of farming to expand.”
