Return Sheep Census Before March 11th Deadline – IFA

Sheep Welfare Scheme

IFA National Sheep Chairman James Murphy said it is absolutely essential that all sheep farmers return their sheep census forms to the Department of Agriculture before the extended closing date of March 11th. James Murphy said the sheep census must be returned on time in order to qualify for the Sheep Grassland payment and to avoid penalties under cross compliance.

James Murphy said any sheep farmer who has not already sent back their sheep census forms to the Department of Agriculture should do so immediately. He said there has been a good response to date with over 30,000 forms returned.

The IFA sheep farmers’ leader said the Department of Agriculture has sent reminder letters out to sheep farmers this week requesting them to send back their forms and highlighting the importance of returning the sheep census on time.

The IFA sheep farmers’ leader said the census form is very easy to complete but critically important in terms of income. He said farmers should pay particular attention to completing the form correctly as inaccuracies or errors have resulted in unnecessary losses to farmers in previous years.
