IFA PRESIDENT HOLDS TALKS WITH ENTERPRISE IRELAND ON DAIRY EXPANSION

Dairy

IFA President John Bryan has met officials from Enterprise Ireland to discuss support for the expansion of the dairy industry.
Following the meeting, John Bryan said he was satisfied that Enterprise Ireland will support the expansion in every way possible.

However, Mr Bryan said Enterprise Ireland made it very clear that any support will only be available for building scale and efficiency, and will be based on a joint-venture approach. “It is critically important that management and Boards of Glanbia and Dairygold are fully aware of Enterprise Ireland’s position, in the context of their existing discussions.”

John Bryan said, “It would be a great pity if financial support from the likes of Enterprise Ireland was lost because of a failure to take this opportunity to work together in establishing a farmer-owned facility that can compete internationally in scale and efficiency.”
