Success of Trade Mission to China Will Depend on Building Relationships over Time

IFA President John Bryan said high-level contacts have been established this week in a series of valuable meetings between members of the delegation from Ireland and senior business and Government officials in China.

He said, “The challenge now is for our processors, Bord Bia and our Government representatives in China to put in place the personnel resources on the ground to build on the relationships established this week in order to develop export opportunities.”

The IFA President said he has been using the trip to China as an opportunity to highlight the commitment of Irish farmers to producing high quality, sustainable food while adhering to the highest animal welfare and environmental standards.

Concluding, John Bryan said, “The size of the delegation, which includes the major beef, dairy, pork and poultry processors, and machinery and equipment providers, is an indication of the sector’s determination to help grow exports by seeking out new markets. This will be vital to Ireland’s economic recovery.”
