TANAISTE RE-AFFIRMS IMPORTANCE OF FULL CAP BUDGET FOR IRELAND – BRYAN

Uncategorized

Following a meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, IFA President John Bryan has welcomed the commitment from Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore to pursue a full CAP Budget for Ireland.
John Bryan said, “the Tanaiste recognises the importance of securing a fully-funded CAP Budget, which will ensure our full allocations of €1.25bn for the Single Farm Payment and €350m for Rural Development schemes.”

“Eamon Gilmore assured us that he disagreed with the recent Cypriot proposal and the Irish Government is opposed to any reduction in the overall Budget.”

The IFA President said, “With just a few weeks until the Heads of Government meeting that will decide the Multi-Annual Financial Framework, which will determine the overall level of the EU Budget between now and 2020, the Department of Foreign Affairs has a vital role in building support in other European capitals for a full Budget”.
