IFA REACTION TO ANNOUNCEMENT BY DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE ON FODDER SCHEMEUncategorized
IFA President John Bryan welcomed move by Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney to subsidise the costs of transporting fodder from the UK.
He said the Government must keep this in place until the crisis abates.
Mr Bryan encouraged the co-ops to keep up the good work, and ensure that no farmer within their region is left without forage. The IFA will continue to highlight the serious cashflow crisis on farms and the President again called on the Minister to bring forward Single Farm Payment and Disadvantaged Area payments to the earliest date possible.
The Minister must ensure there is flexibility in relation to stocking rates criteria for eligibility for the Disadvantaged Areas scheme.
