IFA TO UNDERTAKE EXTENSIVE DISCUSSION ON NATIONAL IMPLEMENTATION OF CAP REFORMUncategorized
Following a comprehensive discussion on the options available to the Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney for the national implementation of CAP Reform, IFA President John Bryan said the clear message from the IFA Executive Council was that active, productive farmers must be prioritised for all monies available through Pillar 1 and Pillar 2.
John Bryan said the Government must urgently make a commitment to 50:50 co-financing for the next Rural Development Programme, and must provide national top-ups for vulnerable sectors. “The IFA draft submission will be discussed at every County Executive in the coming weeks, and the Executive Council will meet again before the deadline of September 20<sup>th</sup> to finalise its position.
