IFA President Joe Healy said it was extremely disappointing to see junior Minister for Finance Michael D’Arcy say that vulture funds are easier to deal with compared to the banks. “That has not been the experience in the cases we have dealt with. It’s a cause for concern that somebody in elected office would have such a view as people would be relying on him to sort this out.”

IFA President Joe Healy has welcomed as a first step an amendment to the Vacant Site Levy legislation, which will ensure farmland will not be liable for the levy, as long as the land was owned and farmed by the farmer prior to its being zoned as residential.
IFA Farm Business Chairman Martin Stapleton has welcomed the announcement by Minister for Agriculture, Michael Creed and Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe that the stamp duty relief measure for farm consolidation, secured by IFA following Budget 2018 will commence from August 1st 2018.
Commenting on today’s loan sale by AIB, IFA President Joe Healy said the Association has had significant and ongoing engagement with AIB in recent weeks, during which AIB gave a commitment to IFA that any family farm homes would be excluded from any loan sales.
