The Heritage Bill proposals to extend the periods during which hedge-cutting and gorse burning are permitted should be supported to allow farmers necessary flexibilities to properly manage hedgerows and uplands, IFA National Hill Chairman Pat Dunne told the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht today.
IFA SAC Project Chairman Padraic Joyce has said that the Minister for Heritage, Heather Humphreys must ensure the commitment given by the National Parks and Wildlife Service to review previous agreements on the designation of land is meaningful and backed up with funding in the upcoming Budget, with the re-opening of the NPWS Farm Plan Scheme.

IFA SAC Project Chairman Padraic Joyce has said Minister for Heritage, Heather Humphreys must deliver for farmers who have designations imposed on their land in the upcoming Budget with the re-opening of the National Parks and Wildlife Farm Plan Scheme.
IFA National Hill Committee Chairman Pat Dunne has urged Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed to ensure that a significant amount of the allocation to the Hen Harrier Locally-Led Scheme benefits farmers.
IFA Farm Forestry Chairman, Pat Collins has said farmers are very angry at the lack of progress made with the Hen Harrier Threat Response Plan. He said it is inexcusable that the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has not held a meeting of the Consultative Committee in nearly thirteen months.
