FARMERS WITH DESIGNATED LAND MUST BE PROPERLY COMPENSATED, IFA TELLS MINISTER HUMPHREYS
Environment & Rural Affairs, Forestry, Hill Farming, SACsIFA President Eddie Downey has called on Heritage Minister Heather Humphreys to agree compensation measures that fully recognise the loss of earning and fall in land value incurred by farmers with designated lands. At a meeting this week, the President said that consultation and a proper appeals process must also be introduced to ensure fairness for farmers affected by designations.

IFA CALLS FOR THE RE-INSTATEMENT OF PROTOCOL TO ALLOW LIMITED PLANTING PROGRAMME IN HEN HARRIER SPAs
Forestry, SACsIFA Farm Forestry Chairman Michael Fleming said that Forest Management Protocol in Hen Harrier SPAs, which allowed a very small afforestation programme, must be re-instated immediately, as an interim solution until the Threat Response Plan is developed.
