IFA’s Inputs Project Team Chairman James McCarthy has encouraged all farmers to shop around and ensure that they are getting the most competitively-priced fuels when buying agricultural diesel, home heating oil and kerosene.

IFA’s Inputs Project Team Leader James McCarthy has welcomed the decision of Bord Gáis Energy to reduce electricity and energy prices. However, he has called on the company and all other energy suppliers to further reduce these prices, in line with the 50% fall in international fuel prices.
In a letter to the EU Commission, IFA President Eddie Downey and Inputs Project Team Leader James McCarthy have called on the Commission to initiate an investigation into fertiliser prices as a matter of urgency. CAN manufacturers continue to push through price increases at a time when the price of their main input cost, namely natural gas, has decreased by over 30%.

IFA Input Project Team leader James McCarthy said that in light of the pig compound feed figures recently compiled by the EU showing huge differences that are costing Irish pig farmers up to €30m/year, the Irish compound feed trade has serious questions to answer.
