Peak Demand for Christmas Lamb Trade

IFA National Sheep Chairman John Lynskey said the lamb trade remains firm with factories paying €5.00/kg. He said this week will see peak Christmas demand.

John Lynskey said the weather difficulties have caused some disruption to trade this week, leaving supplies tighter in some areas.

He said factories are quoting from €4.85 to €4.95/kg but paying €5.00/kg and some higher prices of €5.05/5.10 including bonuses.

John Lynskey said farmers are concerned about poor weights with limits at 22.5kgs to 23kgs in places.
