RESULTS: INFORMAL AGRICULTURE COUNCIL ON 15 SEPTEMBERBrussels Daily
Yesterday, September 15, at an informal meeting of the Agriculture Council of Ministers in Luxembourg, Ministers continued discussions which had begun at the Extraordinary Agriculture Council of 7 September 2015 on the package to assist agriculture in difficulty.
The European Commission had not yet defined the national envelopes when they presented the package of measures on September 7, but indicated that the envelopes would be distributed in a “fair, focused and effective” manner with special attention to Member States most affected by market developments. The Ministers “stressed their concern for the situation of agriculture and in particular the dairy and pig meat” and “confirmed their willingness to mobilize all the instruments available to these critical sectors of the European economy,” said Luxembourg Agriculture Minister and President of the AGRI Council, Fernand Etgen, after the meeting.
