Cattle, Sheep and Tillage Farmer.
Angus Woods is a cattle, sheep and tillage farmer from County Wicklow. He farms a total of 117 ha in a mixed enterprise, consisting of 60 suckler cows, 370 breeding ewes and 27 ha of spring barley.
As National Livestock Chairman, Angus Woods represents Irish Livestock farmers on the Meat and Livestock Board of An Bord Bia (Irish Food Board), the national marketing and promotional body for beef and sheep. Mr. Woods is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Commission Civil Dialogue Group on Animal Products (Beef, Sheep and Beekeeping) and represents Irish livestock farmers’ interests as a member of the COPA/COGECA Beef Working Party.

Kevin Kinsella is the Director of Livestock with the Irish Farmers’ Association. He is a Board Member of the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation, Sheep Ireland, a member of the EU Commission Beef and Sheepmeat Advisory Committees, a member of the COPA/COGECA Beef and Sheep Working Parties in Brussels. He is also a member of the Bord Bia Technical Committees on Beef and Sheep Quality Assurance.
About the Livestock Committee
- The National Livestock Committee fully represents the interests of the country’s 100,000 livestock farmers on all issues affecting members incomes and livelihoods.
- Representing the largest number of farmers nationwide, the IFA National Livestock Committee comprises of 29 democratically elected members from each of the IFA’s County Executives.
- The Committee undertakes this work at local, national, European and international level constantly analysing complex problems and issues, and proposing policies and solutions geared at meeting the interests of farmers.
- The work of the Committee is very wide ranging from high level contacts at European level in meetings with Agricultural or Trade Commissioners on policy issues.
