Milk Quota Regulations and Schemes

This section brings you information about the current legislation governing milk quota management in Ireland, as well as the Milk Quota Trading Scheme, Temporary Leasing and all other relevant schemes.

For specific information relevant to Milk Production Partnerships and the milk quota management issues which pertain to them, see Milk Production Partnerships.

Fleximilk

The redistribution of unused milk quota (fleximilk) in respect of the 2013/14 and 2014/15 milk quota years.

Milk Quota Appeals Tribunal

The MQAT, an independent panel of farmer and industry representatives, allocates National Reserve milk quota permanently to small producers in hardship situations (Hardship Scheme) and temporarily  to producers who exceed their quota purely because their herd was restricted due to animal disease (Animal Disease Scheme).

The National Reserve is now very depleted, and the ability of allocations to alleviate the situation of animal disease cases has been severely diminished.
