  Producer groups supplying contracted fresh milk for the retail trade are about to start their winter price negotiations with their dairies.

  IFA National Dairy Committee Chairman Tom Phelan today (Fri) said the move by Kerry Co-Op to increase the price for July recognises that there is scope for processors to lift their prices.

IFA National Liquid Milk Chairman John Finn has said the 2017 report by the National Milk Agency, published this week, highlights the role of retail practices when it comes to keeping specialist fresh milk producers viable, and securing domestic drinking milk supplies.

IFA National Dairy Chairman Tom Phelan said farmers were disappointed that Lakeland had missed the opportunity to increase their June milk price at a time when this was justified, and their suppliers needed it badly.
