IFA Animal Health Chairman Bert Stewart has said the potentially increased costs for national bovine identification tags further strengthen the IFA case for immediate and meaningful Department of Agriculture financial supports towards the cost of tags and BVD testing.
Welcoming confirmation of BVD support payments secured by IFA for farmers who disposed of PIs in 2015, Bert Stewart said the Department of Agriculture payment systems must be further improved on for the 2016 payments.

Meeting senior Department of Agriculture officials today, IFA Animal Health Chairman Bert Stewart has strongly criticised the move by the Department to ignore the legal BVD testing obligations of farmers in the national eradication programme in the latest tag approval document.
