With TAMS approvals still held up for 5,000 farmers, IFA will be making this a priority issue at this today’s Charter of Rights Monitoring Committee in Portlaoise. Leading the IFA delegation to the meeting, IFA Deputy President Richard Kennedy will highlight the frustration farmers feel about delayed approvals.
At a meeting of the Charter of Rights Monitoring Committee in Portlaoise today, IFA Deputy President Tim O Leary told the Department of Agriculture that the ongoing payment delays for about 2,500 farmers are unacceptable and causing severe financial hardship for the farmers involved.

IFA Deputy President Tim O’Leary has called on the Minister of Agriculture Simon Coveney to insist that the Department of Agriculture meets the early February deadline he has set to pay out all remaining Basic Payment, National Reserve, Young Farmer and ANC payments. He said these payments should have been made last year, but the Minister has set a new deadline of early February and there can be no excuses for any failure to meet this.
