IFA National Livestock Chairman Henry Burns said the IFA campaign on the Beef Data and Genomics scheme has secured important changes and clarifications to the scheme, which will be very important in encouraging farmers to stay in the scheme.
IFA National Sheep Chairman John Lynskey said the lamb trade is stronger this week with tighter supplies, increased demand for Bastille Day and the end of Ramadan in mid-July, and farmers refusing to take the lower factory quotes.

Reacting to the publication of residue monitoring results by the Department of Agriculture, IFA Animal Health Chairman Bert Stewart said the findings confirm the responsible use by farmers of veterinary medicines in the treatment of their animals.
Speaking following a meeting with the Department of Agriculture and representatives from the lamb factories and marts on sheep identification, tagging and EID, IFA National Sheep Chairman John Lynskey said the EU regulation on sheep identification clearly provides that animals intended for slaughter under 12 months of age may be identified by an ear tag applied to one ear and there are no proposals to change this regulation.

IFA Rural Development Chairman, Flor McCarthy has urged the Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney to get an extension of the completion date for TAMS I investments, as many farmers are finding it difficult to finish their work by the end of August.
