IFA Rural Development Chairman Joe Brady has insisted to Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed that all farmers due a GLAS payment can have that payment made if he is prepared to pay farmers on the measures in their plan which have been cleared prior to the resolution of issues relating to any other measures.
IFA President Joe Healy said that the Department of Agriculture’s administration of some recent farm schemes has been totally unacceptable and IFA has demanded an immediate meeting with Minister Creed to ensure the situation is taken under control as a matter of urgency.
IFA Rural Development Chairman Joe Brady has said the refusal of Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed to approach the EU Commission for concessions to allow him to make immediate GLAS payments has come back to haunt him as the progress in making payments is far too slow.

Reacting to the announcement by Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed in the Seanad today that 750 farmers awaiting GLAS payments are to be paid by the end of the week, IFA Rural Development Chairman Joe Brady said that the Minister must put maximum pressure on his Department to make payments to all the remaining 8,000 farmers due a payment.
