There was little change in Irish pig pricing on Friday last, with producers reporting a spread of prices across the Republic of Ireland. Those operating under the graded pricing system have reported slightly higher prices for certain pig weight categories. The average price for pigs processed this week is between €1.78/kg and €1.80/kg. Pig farmers who are selling their pigs to the North are on higher prices than those quoted above and the same is the case for farmers selling pigs on the grading pricing structure in the South.
The weekly throughput as reported by the department of Agriculture, Food and The Marine for week ending 14th June was 63,940 of which 2,115 were sows.
The average price for grade E pig carcasses in week 23 was €1.60/kg (excluding VAT), reporting no change on last week’s average price. However, when compared with the previous month, prices have decreased 2.3% and trail 24.6% behind the same period last year.According to the latest Agritel report oil prices have shown a decline of around 4% across Europe and the US in expectation of an upcoming reopening of the strait. Modest downward trends in price for rapeseed and wheat have been reported, with maize prices edging slightly higher. Upcoming 2026 harvest potential looking positive.
