Extension to Deadline for Applications for the National Farm Safety Measure
IFA Farm Family and Social Affairs Chair Teresa Roche has welcomed an extension to the deadline for applications for the new National Farm Safety Measure to Friday 27th October.
Minister Martin Heydon recently announced an extension to the deadline for applications for the new National Farm Safety Measure to Friday, October 27th.
To apply for the measure, a farmer or Farm Advisory System (FAS) approved Advisor, must submit an expression of interest before investing in the equipment. It should be noted that when the expression of interest is submitted, written confirmation does not issue by post. Applications for payment (claims) should be submitted on www.AgFood.ie via the new AgSchemes – Applications for Payment, as soon as possible and no later than Friday 27th October 2023.
Teresa Roche said she strongly encourages farmers to avail of this National Farm Safety Measure and urges all farmers to purchase and use farm safety equipment, which will protect you from serious and fatal injuries.
The measure will provide a financial contribution to participating farmers for a maximum of two quad helmets and four PTO shaft covers. The grant aid will be at a rate of 60% subject to a maximum eligible cost of €100 per PTO shaft cover and €150 per quad bike (ATV) helmet’ she added.
Farmers are reminded that from 20th November 2023, it will be mandatory for all operators of All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs /Quads) to undergo training and to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including a helmet, when using such vehicles for work.
