IFA Aquaculture Attends OPTIMA Final Conference Celebrating European Co-operation in Mollusc Aquaculture
IFA Aquaculture has completed a European-wide project aimed at raising the awareness of sustainable mollusc aquaculture, which is an important part of aquaculture farming in our coastal communities.
We were a project partner in the OPTIMA Project – Good Practices in Mollusc Aquaculture project, co-funded by the EU, which has released its final international video, bringing together experiences, knowledge, and good practices from partner countries involved in the project: Ireland, Spain, Italy, France, and Greece.
After more than two years of international cooperation, the OPTIMA – Good Practices in Mollusc Aquaculture project, co-funded by the European Union, has officially come to an end, leaving behind a valuable legacy of knowledge, educational resources, and good practices that will continue supporting the European aquaculture sector.
As a final dissemination milestone, the project has released its international audiovisual video, bringing together experiences, expertise, and sustainable aquaculture practices from the five partner countries: Ireland, Spain, Italy, France, and Greece. The video was officially premiered during the project’s Final Conference, held last May in La Tremblade, France.
The final video represents an important dissemination output of OPTIMA, designed to promote knowledge exchange, increase visibility of the mollusc aquaculture sector, and share sustainable practices and innovative approaches developed across different European contexts.
This European project, partnered by IFA Aquaculture, focused on identifying, developing, and promoting good practices in mollusc aquaculture and the project aims are to:
- Raise awareness of sustainable mollusc aquaculture;
- Improve skills and knowledge within the aquaculture sector;
- Support sustainable and efficient production systems;
- Contribute to the environmental sustainability of marine ecosystems;
- Increase visibility of the sector at both local and European level;
- Provide long-term training and dissemination resources for the aquaculture community.
