Sheep Price Update
IFA National Sheep Chairman John Lynskey said hoggets are making €5.80/kg with numbers remaining tight. He said the factories are having a go at spring lambs with prices at €6.30/6.40/kg.
John Lynskey said it is incredible that the factories are imposing a cut off of 20kgs on top quality spring lamb, while they are paying up to 23.5/24kgs on hoggets.
He said it is clear that the weight limit on top quality spring lamb is way too low and being used as an instrument to limit price to producers.
