Strong IFA Campaign Delivers €130/t for Green Barley

Despite weak international grain prices a prolonged and focused campaign by the IFA National Grain Committee has resulted in the majority of grain merchants and co-ops paying €129/t to €133/t for green barley (at 20% moisture exclusive of VAT) and €10/t over for green wheat.

This follows high-profile IFA protests at the ports of Foynes and Drogheda earlier this year, which highlighted the inferior quality of imported barley, in terms of bushel weight but more worryingly the level of contamination with weed seeds such as blackgrass and sterile brome.
