Consumption is stable and demand for both retail and food service sectors should see a surge coming into the Easter weekend. Planting continues around the country; some wet weather conditions this week will likely slow up progress to some degree. There is a lot of variation in areas planted in different areas. Some growers will be finished planting in the next week which will probably mark one of the earliest ever plantings.
Across Europe, planting has moved on well and progress has only been held up by late delivery of seed. In the market, buyers are still very reluctant to commit to any offers of free buy. For the processors, clearance of contracts is a priority although there has been some movement of excess to contract.
