Retail demand remains stable. The food service sector experienced a welcome increase in demand as key events occurred over the past week. Price pressure remains for the peeling trade due to oversupply. Dryer, warmer weather forecast this week should allow fieldwork to recommence.
Across Europe, in the processing sector, the physical market shows very little change, as the factories concentrate on clearing contracted supplies. Warmer weather has brought on germination and added stress to growers ,who are being forced to come to a decision about unsold crop. Despite reductions in price, sales of finished product show few signs of improving. The war in the Middle East is only likely to reduce sales to those areas.
