Growers with remaining crop to harvest are doing so this week as conditions have somewhat improved . Markets are stable, with an increase in retail trade expected to begin shortly. Trade for the peeling market continues to be under pressure but again this should improve as the festive season approaches.
Across Europe, lifting is very nearly at an end and growers are having to manage the last of the crop as best they can. Movement to AD plants and for cattle feed is providing options but factory rejections are also now adding to the volumes, which now need to be moved to these outlets. Crop that was lifted in dry conditions before the rain is showing high levels of bruising.
