Schemes Overview
Farmers can apply for a number of Farm Schemes and Direct Payments, funded through EU CAP funding and/or National Exchequer funding.
CAP Payments – Pillar I

Basic Payment
The BPS replaced the Single Payment System (SPS) in 2015.

Greening
All farmers eligible under the Basic Payment Scheme receive a Greening Payment.

Young Farmers & National Reserve
Additional payments for new & young farmers.

Protein Aid Scheme
A coupled payment is available for growing protein crops.
Rural Development Schemes

GLAS Scheme
The Green Low-Carbon Agri-Environment Scheme (GLAS) offers payments for applicants who carry out actions to enhance the rural environment.

Areas of Natural Constraint (ANCs)
The ‘Areas of Natural Constraint’ (ANC) Scheme provides a payment for eligible land in disadvantaged areas.

Sheep Welfare Scheme
The €25m Sheep Welfare Scheme provides a €10 per ewe payment to sheep farmers for welfare measures.

Beef Data and Genomics Programme (BDGP)
The Beef Data and Genomics Programme provides financial support to suckler beef farmers.

TAMS
The Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS) offers grant aid for certain on-farm capital investments.

Targeted Agri-Environment Schemes
