Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme

Applications for the new Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme is now open for all suckler cow farmers. Application closing date is midnight 22nd May 2023. Terms and conditions can be found here.

Updated ACRES Actions Deadline

DAFM have announced they are extending the Winter Bird Food Actions deadlines to 31st May following a call from the IFA to do so in response to the wet weather which has played havoc with sowing windows.

DAFM Public Meetings / Farmer Clinics

The Department of Agriculture is holding a number of public meetings around the country, providing information on new CAP schemes, such as the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and other area based schemes. The BISS Farmer Clinics will involve one-to-one support to assist farmers to submit their BISS application.

Online systems for transfers of Payment Entitlements, National Reserve and Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) took another step forward in the implementation of Ireland’s 2023-2027 CAP Strategic Plan with the opening of online systems for transferring Payment Entitlements, applying to the National Reserve (young farmer and new entrant) and Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (CISYF).

  •  the closing date for transfers of Payment Entitlements, applications to the National Reserve, CISYF and BISS applications, which will be midnight on Monday 29th May 2023;
  • the dates for payments for CISYF and other schemes, which are expected to commence in December 2023.

Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3)

The Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3) opened this week. Tranche 1 of the scheme is expected to close on Friday, 16th June 2023. See full list of investment items and reference costs here.

ICBF Nitrates Band Screen

The new nitrates band screen is now available to all dairy farmers on ICBF. The nitrates band screen allows dairy farmers to determine which milk kgs/cow band their herd falls into for the purpose of the new nitrates requirements. Forestry Premiums

Apply now online for your forestry premium online via www.agfood.ie. All premium applications must be applied for online. The advantage of the online system is that premium payments are made on a weekly basis from this month onwards.

Stages of the Agricultural and Food Supply Chain Survey

The European Commission is carrying out annual survey to assess the effectiveness of measures taken by Member States in the context of this Directive. The survey targets suppliers covered by the Directive at the different stages of the agricultural and food supply chain. The survey is available here.

Public Consultation on the Recommendations of the Reports of the Firearms Expert Committee

The Minister of State at the Department of Justice, James Browne TD, established the Firearms Expert Committee (FEC) on a non-statutory basis, in June 2022. The FEC included representation from stakeholders, the Department of Justice and An Garda Síochána. The purpose of the FEC was to serve in an advisory capacity to Minister Browne, providing guidance on a wide range of matters related to firearms licensing in the State.

The FEC held nine in-person Committee meetings over a period of nine months. The final reports of the FEC were published on 31 March 2023. The reports, along with the summaries and minutes of the FEC’s meetings are available below.

The FEC reports contain recommendations to the Minister on a wide range of firearms matters, in line with its comprehensive terms of reference. Minister Browne has now launched an online consultation platform. This will allow stakeholders to indicate their level of support for all of the substantive recommendations of the FEC.
