Potato Market Report 22nd April

There is very little change to consumption trends, with sales reported as average for this time of the year. Some settled weather forecast for the next 10 days should allow some field work and planting to progress. The cost of production continues to centre discussions . Global uncertainty is likely to continue to affect input costs and storage costs will likely be a lot more this season if the current path continues. 

Across Europe, export demand is generally very limited but in France there is keen interest in washing quality reds although stocks are now much harder to find. World Potato Markets report that the area in Spain could be the lowest ever. In Scotland plantings are estimated to be at about 25% but “it is not an early season”.
