PotatoPotato Market Reports

Potato Market Update 10th April

Consumption and sales remain very strong for this time of year. Once again wet weather continues to delay this year’s plantings. There is light at the end of the tunnel as dryer weather is forecast, however, saturated ground will take time to dry out.  As 2023 season stocks continue to tighten and with plantings further delayed, a gap in the market in late June is looking very likely.

Across Europe, planting progress has been very slow again as the wet weather has continued and there is still early crop to plant in some areas. Very first covered earlies from France are just coming onto the market this week. Progress in the U.K. is similar to that at home, with very little progress reported recently.
