IFA Calls for Extension of Fodder Schemes

IFA President Joe Healy has called on the Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed to extend the Fodder Import Support Measure and Fodder Transport Scheme as there are still many areas where grass has yet to begin growing and where there is still a need for fodder.

Joe Healy said farmers, particularly in the north and north-west, are still experiencing harsh weather and even when grass begins to grow it will still take some time before the growth has an impact in the area.

The Monday, May 7th closing date for the schemes needs to be extended further, the IFA President concluded.
