Failure of Eu Ag Council to Agree on Butterfat Disappointing, but Not Suprising
IFA National Dairy Committee Chairman Sean O’Leary said the second failure by the EU Agriculture Council to agree anything on dairy policy post 2015 was disappointing but hardly surprising in light of the deeply entrenched differences which had already emerged between member states at the June Agriculture Council.
He said that, while Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney should continue to lobby fellow Ministers and Commissioner Ciolos for a change to the butterfat corrector, it was important that farmers would make their 2014/15 financial budgets on the prudent basis of no change to the superlevy rules.
