Farmers Reminded to Apply for Fuel Income Support Scheme Ahead of Deadline – IFA
IFA President Francie Gormnan is reminding farmers and agricultural contractors to make sure they apply for the Fuel Income Support Scheme ahead of the application deadline tomorrow, Wednesday, May 27th.
He said all farmers and agricultural contractors who use green diesel should apply for this scheme.
“At the end of the day, farmers sit at the end of the value chain and cannot pass on the massive increases in energy and fertiliser prices we have seen since the start of the conflict in the Middle East,” Francie Gorman said.
“In this time of increased price volatility, it is vital farmers and agricultural contractors avail of this scheme to offset some of the rising costs on farms,” he said.
“We are in the middle of the busy silage season currently and farmers/agricultural contractors are likely in the middle of the highest usage point of the year. It is key that this scheme is maximised.”
“Fuel prices remain high, and farmers are also dealing with rising fertiliser prices. It is important that Minister Heydon and the Government work hard for farmers to relieve the price pressures on farmers,” Francie Gorman concluded.
Farmers, or their agent, can apply online via the myagfood.ie on the DAFM website.
Agricultural Contractors can apply for the scheme by downloading the Fuel Income Support Scheme Contractor Application form and completing Part 2. See form here.
